​L-series: Have a larger bore diameter needed to reach the lower pitch. A key over the lowest tone-hole of the longer sized whistles allows small hands to easier reach the lowest tone-hole. Many players do not need a key on a -G- whistle, but often need one or more keys on the much longer low-octave models.
