The Fleadh Cheoil returned to the streets of Mullingar this summer after being cancelled for two years running due to Covid-19. This event is the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music, language, song, and dance.

During my time at the Fleadh Cheoil I interviewed a good number of people which including visitors and musicians present at the festival.

Below are my findings:

• Almost half of people play or have played the whistle before.

• More than half of people heard of the Feadóg Original Irish Whistle.

Out of those people who had heard of Feadóg before, here is where they had heard of Feadóg from.

33% of interviewees had heard of Feadóg from a retail store.

20% of interviewees had heard of Feadóg from a family member or friend.

47% of interviewees had heard of Feadóg from a school environment.

• Of those people owned a Feadóg at home whereas 67% of people did not own a Feadóg.

• 27% were aware that Feadóg is manufactured in Ireland whereas 73% of the people were not aware.

• Interestingly 80% of people surveyed were not following Feadóg on any social media platforms.

• 53% of people were familiar that Feadóg had a website whereas 47% were unaware!

• 94% of people were interested in the single whistles especially the Brass D and assorted colours.

• 100% of people said Feadóg was priced fairly.

Other interesting results I found from my time at the Fleadh is that most people would rather a Feadóg whistle in the key of D than a key of C due to its easy playability and instruction guides to learn from.
