4 Reasons why Feadog Fans should go to The Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann.
by Joao Ferreira
Like in 2018 the Fleadh will take place in Drogheda and County Louth in 2019. Music lovers and tin whistlers, from the beginners to more advanced ones, should visit Drogheda between 11th and 18th august.
I wrote this article to list 4 reasons why Feadog fans should go to this very traditional event, which celebrates our traditional Irish music.
1- 8000
It is expected around 8000 musicians at competitions and impromptu sessions at local venues and on the streets.
2- Ireland`s premier family event
From our creative arts initiatives to our rich heritage and culture we look forward to once again sharing it with the many visitors. It is likely the best opportunity to show to the kids and foreign friends the power of our traditional music and why we are so proud about it.
3- Cherish the Ladies
A special attraction to the Feadog fans and tin whistlers at all. Led by the legendary Joanie Madden, star of one of our #whistlelegends on our social media before, play on 14th august ensuring an unforgettable night of traditional Irish music and dance.
4- Tin Whistle Competition
For more advanced Feadog fans this is a great opportunity to join a competition and show all your skills. If you are not as competitive or you aren`t so confident yet, this is a good opportunity to support the competitors and learn new tunes. To join the competition click here.
I believe after these 4 reasons, you attend the Fleadh and get inspired to start and learn how to play our Feadog Whistles. Browse our website and look for the one that suits you. If you are already a player becomes our fan visiting our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to be aware of tips and further information.
