3 Halloween tunes to play on your Feadog Whistle

3 Halloween tunes to play on your Feadog Whistle

by Joao Ferreira

It is Halloween. Browsing through the internet I found out 3 special halloween tunes to our Feadog Fans and tin whistlers, from beginners to more advanced ones.

So, in this article, I selected these tunes to learn and practice. Each of them with their own history and curiosity. They are perfect to play next 31st October.

1 – Halloween Jig (Baeol)

The “Halloween Jig” was composed by the flute/whistle player Jean Duval of Montreal.  He has been involved in Québécois, Irish, and Scottish traditional music circles in North-eastern North America since the early 1980s.  The name of this tune is due simply to the day of its composition back in 2007.

2- Sally`s Song – The Nightmare before Christmas

The Nightmare before Christmas originated in a poem written by Burton in 1982 while he was working as an animator at Walt Disney Feature Animation. It is a famous song and very popular in Ireland to play on your Feadog Whistle.

3- The Witches Coven

This is the last of 3 original compositions by Dublin whistle player and uilleann piper Darach de Brun. Darach was particularly pleased with this tune, as he wasn’t in the habit of composing 3-part tunes. This is a very traditional Halloween song.

I suggest you to search all these 3 tunes on Youtube and listen the variates of versions and it is a good opportunity to learn by ear so far.

I believe after these 3 sweet tunes, you will be inspired to learn how to play our Feadog Whistles better and better. So, browse our website and look for the one that suits you.
